If you are under 25 and want to rent a car you will probably be aware that most car rental agencies only rent their cars to people under 25. If you have been able to find a company that will rent the car to you then you may be charged an extra insurance fee for the vehicle.
The best option as a young driver wanting to rent a vehicle is to choose a cheaper vehicle. This usually means a smaller, compact vehicle and although this might not be perfect it will save you some extra money. The added bonus of this is that a smaller vehicle uses less gas. You can also try and negotiate with a smaller rental agency if you have a particularly good driving record. Some will offer car rental for under 25 year olds without an extra fee in this situation.
Unfortunately it is a fact of life that you will pay more for your car rental if you are under 25. However, you may be able to reduce the excess you will be required to pay in the event of accident by taking out travel insurance. Most quality travel insurance will cover all or most of your accident excess and while this wonâ??t make your extra fees for being under 25 smaller, it will help in the event of an accident.
