Why are old baseball cards worth so much money? Vintage baseball cards are an obsession for countless collectors and historians of America’s favorite pastime. They are collected based on the scarcity or rarity, significance, and value. Since it does take a while for these cards to skyrocket in worth, finding one is extremely hard to do, but finding one in mint condition or better condition is almost impossible.
Most old baseball cards were not collectibles it games for kids to play with. The cards were not protected after they were purchased and many were destroyed or damaged over the years.
Although you may never find things like this in excellent mint condition, owning one will be an achievement in itself. If you can get your hands on some of the better baseball cards of Hall of Famers like Mantle or Ruth you will more than likely be forced to pay a pretty penny to get them.
